Balance is the foundation for health transformation to transpire and the best way to lose weight naturally!
My Transformation teachings as well as mentoring provides significant insight in vast depths and multiple areas that must be addressed during one's journey to health. Through this journey one among the many transformational moments you'll experience is in gaining the vitally important knowledge of the following statement...
"You don't focus and struggle on fad diets or starving yourself to lose weight and then think that you'll become healthy. Instead, you focus on doing what is necessary, meaning working WITH your body instead of against it to gain and/or maintain your health. When you do this your body will be able to then heal, you restore your health. This process naturally allows your body to become balanced, which assists your body in naturally getting to its ideal weight"!
Everything I share with you in this training, mentoring and as a health coach comes from a place of absolute heart-felt understanding. My understanding on this matter is not only from being 'booked-learned'... but more importantly, I've successfully taught and mentored thousands of individuals over a span of 38+ years, assisting them to restore and then maintain their health. During this process I experienced their transformation as their body naturally shed their 'excess pounds', literally their 'excess baggage' on every level... body, mind and spirit.
I've walked the many aspects of the journey to healing with thousands of individuals, including walking this path myself. Because of this and for many more reasons. If deep in your heart you know something is not quite right in your life and/or in your relationship(s), I truly believe that I can be a light for you in your journey back to 'You'. When you are ready to learn more, or to just talk or to fully reclaim your health and life back, please reach out to me and I'll be here for you!
In great respect, understanding and love.
Always,
Kathleen
Continue reading the information below to discover what your unique 'Hormonal' and 'Ayurvedic' body type is.
Knowing what your Body Type is can open up a whole new world for you in understanding how to 'work with your body, instead of against it.... However, of even more importance is knowing 'what foods you need to be eating, how often to eat them and what foods to currently stay away from. In doing so ...
The Hormonal Body Types (BT) are classified as: (BT) Thyroid,
(BT) Gonad, (BT) Adrenal and (BT) Pituitary.
Determining your 'Hormonal' Body Type will provide you with insight and understanding about yourself and body... How and why it looks and behaves the way it does.
Hormonal-based Body Typing explains that the reason many people struggle with losing weight is due to a hormonal imbalance that each unique Body Type lends itself to.
As noted above, there are four main Hormonal-based body types, Thyroid, Gonad, Adrenal and Pituitary. Each of them is characterized by how the person distributes fat, either by storing it in equal proportion, in their stomach, or on their lower half, or has a soft child-like look.
What’s interesting about Hormonal-based Body Typing is that it explains why many people can diet and exercise in the same way, however, not have the same results. This is considered to be due to an underlying factor motivating their body to store weight in a certain way.
Many people are surprised to learn that there is a relationship between the four main body shapes and hormones. It was found that alterations or weaknesses in the functions of our glands or organs can contribute to different body shapes or distortions, which are largely defined by the accumulation of excess fluid and fat.
When the glands aren’t working properly, it is almost impossible to keep off excess body weight and inches. This means that body distortions can very well be an indication of underlying health problems, so improving the function of the appropriate glands or organs can help optimize the body’s performance and help you get a more normal body shape.
The Ayurvedic Body Types, (sometimes called the Doshas) are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Doshas are the ancient Ayurvedic understanding of Body Typing and have been used for centuries. It is based on the idea that just as everything on Earth is made from some combination of the elements (air/wind, fire & earth), so too are bodies made from different combinations.
The word Dosha has two meanings. First, it refers to a way of naming the three Ayurvedic body types, Vata, Pitta & Kapha. It also means "That which can go out of balance or that which is impure.”
Each dosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) is described as a combination of two elements. Every person has some combination of all three doshas, which must be kept in their appropriate Body Type relationship balance to remain healthy.
The proportions of the doshas that nature gave you when you were born is referred in Ayurveda holistic science as "PRAKRUTI", (your "base-line" Constitution.) This is different that what is referred to as "VIKRITI", (your "current" Constitution".)
Determining your "current" Constitution - (VIKRITI) and your current imbalance and then knowing what to eat, how often, and what not eat at any period of time is the "Key" information you need to have so you can begin working with your body, instead of against it!
Ether and Air combine to form Vata – The nature of Vata is air (wind) or that which 'moves' things.
Fire and Water combine to form Pitta – The nature of Pitta is (fire) or 'transformation' or that which digests things.
Earth and Water combine to form Kapha – The nature of Kapha is (earth) or 'cohesion' that which holds things together.
Although Vata, Pitta, and Kapha appear to have different functions in the body, the three doshas work together harmoniously to maintain life.

Determining your Hormonal Body Type will provide you with insight and understanding about yourself & your unique body... How and why it looks and behaves the way it does.
Step 1: Simply read the above. The Body Type, (Thyroid, Gonad, Adrenal or Pituitary) having the greatest number of your selections is likely your Primary Body Type, and the Body Type having the second greatest number of selections is likely your Secondary Body Type, both derived from your biological mother and father.
Step 2: Write your Primary & Secondary Body Types down and place in an area for easy accessibility.
Your PRIMARY 'Hormonal' Body Type is: _____________________________
Your SECONDARY 'Hormonal' Body Type is:__________________________
It is important to understand that when your body is 'out of balance' it very often will be drawn toward the foods that are very likely causing it to stay out of balance. This imbalance is what causes you health challenges and a struggle with your weight.
This is why it's important to continue on to...
Step 3: Determining Your 'Ayurvedic' Body Type.
By determining your Ayurvedic Body Type's - (Dosha's) current constitution or what is referred to in Ayurvedic as (Vikriti), and then addressing the imbalance of your current state, you can begin to work with your body, instead of against it, bringing yourself into 'balance'. This balance is what allows for restoration of health and harmony on all levels of your life!
Having the powerful knowledge of knowing what the EXACT foods & beverages your body needs at any 'current' period of time is a vital "Key" to restoring 'balance' to yourself and to your world!
By being able to determine and then understanding your Body Type and it's 'current' Constitution (Vikriti), completely eliminates for you any guess work as to WHAT to eat and WHAT not to eat.
In other words...
NO MORE FAD DIETS and no more of the negative health consequences and yo-yo weight loss and gain that Fad diets cause!
Please continue reading below to discover...
What your 'Ayurveda' Body Type is
and
How to know what to eat for it!
Knowing what your BODY-MIND Constitution is and what your (today's) imbalances are is the FIRST STEP to understanding your body and to finally begin working with it instead of against it...
Physically, Emotionally, and Spiritually!
The following provides information which explains the importance of the above statement.
Ayurveda is a leading alternative medicine and probably the most holistic medicine system existing. It translates to “Science of Life” and with its 5 000 years of history Ayurveda is also the oldest known healing science, that addresses the Body, Mind, and Spirit.
Disease and health are both the result of the interaction of all three aspects: Body, Mind and Spirit.
Like other traditional healing methods, Ayurveda follows a unified body-mind-spirit orientation to prevent illness and preserve life. It encompasses all aspects of body and mind that are relevant for the human health; physically and mentally, as well as spiritually and deals with the subtle relationships and links between body, mind and environment. This approach differs significantly from Western Medicine which doesn’t seem to connect them. It is not enough to make changes on the physical level only because everything is linked in one way or another.
Constant good health and well-being can’t be achieved by ignoring any of the parts; it can only transpire by achieving harmony between all of them. In Ayurveda the mind-body link is the key to good health because it allows a person to attack the root causes of a disease.
Many people find when they adopt an Ayurvedic lifestyle and proper plant-based supplemental nutrition when necessary, health problems disappear, energy levels rise, sleep improves and weight usually balances itself out without the need for strict dietary regimes.
Rather than indifferently prescribing the same treatments and chemicals to all people, Ayurveda treats people individually. Every person is dominated by a unique combination of influencing energies which affect everyone slightly different, causing individual vulnerabilities and resistances.
So instead of chemically covering-up the fire/(health challenge) once it occurs, Ayurveda focuses on preserving health by gently and naturally balancing energies and their influences to help people use their own self-healing powers.
The Ayurvedic key method to preventing illness is a balanced and healthy way of eating attuned to your personal constitution. “Ayurvedic Diet” doesn’t mean strict rules and restraints as Western culture often understands diets. The Ayurvedic way of eating is about methods for healthy and individually advantageous cooking; what might be perfectly good for one person could be less healthy for the next according to their constitutions.
Ayurveda teaches that nearly all health problems can be tracked down to a subpar diet, deficient in vital nutrients. This deteriorates the body’s natural resources in the long-term and manifests health problems in one form or another. Therefore, solving chronic and resistant health problems that Western medicine is unable to clearly locate, is often as easy as a change in diet and incorporating the proper plant-based nutritional supplementation.
In addition to dietary balance as a means of a healthy lifestyle, Ayurveda believes in a comprehensive supportive system of natural means, ranging from massages, yoga, meditation, aroma and sound therapy, to herbal supplementation and detoxification, all based on your 'unique body type constitution.
Vata constitution types are generally thin with a slender frame, have prominent joints and weak muscles. They tend to extremes (e.g. are particularly small or tall) or irregularities, sleep lightly and thrive in warm climates.
Creative • Inspired • Enthusiastic • Generous • Intuitive
• Usually free in mind, quick in thought and fast to act
• Often they are restlessly active, burn their energy quickly and can be brought out of balance quite easily
• Vata dominated people have a good imagination, are visionary and change as easily as they make friends
• They might have difficulties with bringing their ideas to life
• They might have a bad memory
• Sometimes they talk a bit much
• Emotionally they can feel insecure or even anxious
The Vata Dosha combines the air and ether elements and pictures the movement principle. Thus it is responsible for all motion related processes in the body; from the blood circulating through your veins to breathing, digestion and nerve impulses running from the brain.
Furthermore it is the catalyst for all functions in the body: without Vata’s envolvment Pitta and Kapha couldn’t work either.
Generally Vata is responsible for all forms of movement within the body; examples include, but are not limited to: Walking, the movements of the chest when breathing, the churning movements necessary to digest food, the momentum of the ovum and the ejaculation of sperm. The Vata energy also drives the whole communication of the nervous system, perception (including pain), the body’s reactions, the transfer from consciousness to memory and vice versa and is liable for speech.
Vata is mainly located in the colon with minor locations in the pelvic region, the lower back, thighs, bones, ears, skin, the nervous system and any hollows, like the ear canal. This means that problems with these regions in combination with the Vata function (movements) will likely lead back to an unbalanced Vata Dosha.
It is said that the Vata Dosha cannot really be increased or decreased balance, but it can become unbalanced mostly by weather and dietary changes. Examples of this are: too much dry and raw foods, exposure to cold, windy weather, travel with a lack of routine and mental exhaustion.
Ayurveda suggests the principle of opposites to keep a balance between all energies.
Since the primary features of Vata are dry, moving, light and cold, simply spoken... everything that is moist, steady, heavy or warm might help to balance an aggravated Vata Dosha, not only in primary Vata types, but in every case of an unbalanced Vata dosha.
Vata can aggravate when there is stress, irregularity and cold weather.
Vata-Pitta types resemble pure Vatas in many respects, but the Pitta influence often gives them a stronger and more compact build. This Prakriti (Original Constitution) is very active and shows a curious combination of confusion and determination. In general Vata-Pittas are sensitive to neuronal stimuli such as light, heat, sound and dryness.
Vata-Kapha types usually are lighter or shorter and smaller than a pure Kapha build and also might have proportionally longer limbs. Often this mixed Dosha type is more sensitive to the cold than any other Prakriti (Original Constitution) and shows many Kapha weaknesses, such as excess mucus and poor digestion.
The Doshas are affected by the "Gunas" which bring out different mental states. VATA natures have the following tendencies:
SATTVA:
• Artistic
• Creative
• Intuitive
• Inspired
• Enthusiastic
RAJAS:
• Wired
• Manic
• Fearful
• Anxious
• Nervous
TAMAS:
• Addicted
• Depressed
• Psychotic
• Suicidal
There is nothing conspicuous in the Pitta figure and appearance. Their average proportions hold the middle ground between the light Vata and the heavy Kapha type. They are known for a good digestive fire and strong appetite, often for sweets and cold drinks and hardly gain or loose much weight. Pitta people enjoy physical activity, but go out of balance easily with too much heat and thus prefer cooler climates.
Ambitious • Focused • Confident
• A bright mind and good concentration are probably the most prominent characteristics of Pitta people
• They quickly absorb information, know how to use it
• Have a good memory for things that are important to accomplish their goals
• Their focus and ambition will allow them to go far in life
• The Pitta type is usually a good speaker
• Has leadership qualities
• Knows how to promote themself
• Their constant inner-fire and alertness can lead to aggressiveness, impatience and high blood pressure so the Pitta type has to be cautious not to overdo things
The Pitta Dosha combines the fire with the water element and stands for the energy principle. The primary function of Pitta is transformation, e.g. regulating the body heat through transformation of food to energy, controlling enzymes and even neurotransmitters.
Pitta affects all the transformation processes in the body. It's main functions being the control of digestion and metabolism and the release of energy. In addition, Pitta is responsible for the skin color, complexion and some chemical processes in the skin, the processing of impulses from the outside environment and for vision itself by converting light rays falling onto the retina of the eye into electrical impulses for processing in the brain.
Pitta types will also analyze and sort out the received information and is therefore closely connected to intelligence and comprehension.
Pitta controls appetite, hunger and thirst and the emotions of anger and fear.
Pitta’s main locations are stomach and small bowel with minor locations in liver, spleen, gall bladder, blood, sweat, eyes and endocrine glands. This means that problems with these regions in combination with the Pitta function (transformations) will likely lead back to an unbalanced Pitta Dosha.
Ayurveda suggests the principle of opposites to keep a balance between all energies.
Since the primary features of Pitta are hot, light, and sharp, everything that is heavy, cooling, or soothing might help to balance an aggravated Pitta Dosha, not only in primary Pitta types, but in every case of an unbalanced Pitta Dosha.
Pitta can aggravate from repressed emotions, in summer, from excessive ambition or in a hot and damp climate.
Vata-Pitta types resemble pure Vatas in many respects, but the Pitta influence often gives them a stronger and more compact build. This Prakriti (Original Constitution) is very active and shows a curious combination of confusion and determination. In general Vata-Pittas are sensitive to neuronal stimuli such as light, heat, sound and dryness as well as being sensitive to environmental and emotional changes. Their digestion usually is as strong as Pitta’s, however, can be irregular.
Pitta-Kapha types usually are very healthy and resilient, combining the the power of Pitta with the strength of Kapha. They usually display a sturdier build than pure Pittas and put on weight more easily than Pittas, but since they are also physically more active than pure Kaphas, they usually are able to keep the balance.
Warm, humid weather affects this type negatively.
The Doshas are affected by the "GUNAS" which bring out different mental states. PITTA natures have the following tendencies:
SATTVA:
• Perceptive
• Leadership
• Good teacher
• Clear thoughts
RAJAS:
• Angry
• Jealous
• Irritated
• Resentful
• Controlling
• Judgmental
TAMAS:
• Hateful
• Hurtful
• Violent
• Murderous tendencies
Kapha types have a solid frame with broad shoulders and wide hips and tend to be ether tall and strong or small and sturdy. They have a good stamina, but usually face difficulties loosing weight due to their slow metabolism.
Kapha people sleep long and sound and detest cold, damp environments.
Patient • Loyal • Affectionate
• In general Kapha people are of calm and gentle nature, well balanced, steady in mind and act deliberately
• They take their time to learn and work and have a reliable long-term memory
• They are good organizers
• They have a knack for making and saving money
• They can become quite materialistic
• The Kapha type doesn’t change easily, but has a deep and stable faith which can cause them to get into a rut
The doshas are affected by the Gunas (qualities) which bring out different mental states. Kapha natures have the following tendencies:
Patient, generous, peaceful, nurturing, loving, loyal, compassionate, stubborn, possessive, holding grudges, attached to objects (slight hoarding tendency), can be selfish, self-loathing, lethargic, greedy
The Kapha Dosha integrates the elements earth and water and represents the structure principle. As such it embraces our cells, tissues and organs and ensures their integrity by lubricating, moisturizing and nourishing them.
Kapha distributes energy throughout the body. It is responsible for its construction, lubrication and holds everything together. In addition, it builds up mental strength and physical defense against disease.
Kapha’s main location is in stomach and lungs with minor locations in the mucous membranes, plasma, cytoplasm, lymphs, joints, subcutaneous fatty tissue, mouth, nose and all secretions like mucous and saliva. This means that problems with these regions in combination with the Kapha function (structure) will likely lead back to an unbalanced Kapha Dosha.
Ayurveda suggests the principle of opposites to keep a balance between all energies.
Since the primary features of Kapha are heavy, cold, immobile and oily, simply spoken, everything that is light, warm, active or dry might help to balance an aggravated Kapha Dosha, not only in primary Kapha types, but in every case of an unbalanced Kapha Dosha.
Kapha can be aggravated by greed and possessiveness, in a cold and damp climate or lack of movement and laziness.
Vata-Kapha types usually are lighter or shorter and smaller than a pure Kapha build and also have longer bones and proportionally longer limbs.
Since both Vata and Kapha have a cold quality, this mixed type is more sensitive to the cold than any other Prakriti (Original Constitution) shows many Kapha weaknesses like mucus problems and poor digestion.
Pitta-Kapha types usually are very healthy and resilient, combining the the power of Pitta with the strength of Kapha. They often display a sturdier build than pure Pittas and put on weight more easily than Pittas.
Since they are also physically more active than pure Kaphas, they usually are able to keep the balance.
Warm, humid weather affects this type negatively.
The Doshas are affected by the "GUNAS" which bring out different mental states. KAPHA natures have the following tendencies:
SATTVA:
• Loyal
• Loving
• Patient
• Peaceful
• Generous
• Nurturing
• Compassionate
RAJAS:
• Possessive
• Stubborn
• Attached to objects (slight hoarding tendency)
TAMAS:
• Selfish
• Lethargic
• Intense greed
• Self-loathing
• Possible thieves
Ayurveda recognizes more qualities in food than the typical Western system of nutritional values. One of those areas of quality that it recognizes is called ("GUNAS").
The (3) Gunas are qualities in food (and all material things) that affect your body and mind.
The three "Gunas" are:
1) Sattva
2) Rajas
3) Tamas
The above "GUNAS" are placed in order from “best" to “worst”.
Ayurveda is always striving to boost Sattva.
Foods are in one of the above three states depending on their preparation, and promote the according state in the mind.
~ SATTVA ~
“The mode of Goodness” is the neutral force (0). It means "balance and is the calm anchor" to the energy currents.
Sattvic food promotes a clear mind.
Sattvic food is:
• Mainly fresh
• Juicy
• Nourishing vegetarian fare, either cooked or raw, but always easy to digest
• Made with love
• Free of additives and preservatives
• Can include legumes, vegetables, fruit, and ghee
The mind in the Sattvic state shows the best traits possible.
It is:
• Happy
• At peace
• Effectively dealing with the outside world
~ RAJAS ~
“The mode of Passion”, (means motion) and is seen as the positive (+) fiery outgoing principle.
Rajas can be compared to the masculine Yang energy in the Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Rajasic foods usually comes to play with hard labor, as they support physical endurance and a resolute state of mind.
Rajas foods contain:
• Garlic
• Chile
• Caffeine (from coffee, black tea and chocolate)
• Eggs
• High quality meat
• Alcohol
• Fermented or freshly canned foods
• Foods made in anger
• Fried foods or over-cooked Sattvic foods also get Rajastic qualities
The mind in the Rajasic state is:
• Fierce
• Passionate
• Puts all its force into something, but can easily be frustrated if the goal isn’t accomplished
~ TAMAS ~
“The mode of Ignorance”, (means resistance) and describes the idea of negative (-), cool watery and inward principle. Tamas is similar to the feminine Yin energy in Chinese Medicine.
Tamasic foods require a lot of energy to digest and have a grounding effect, however, usually raise inertia and can dull the mind.
Tamas foods contain:
• Onions
• Mushrooms
• Meats
• Leftovers
• Microwaved
• Frozen foods
• The long-term effects of alcohol
• Food made with indifference
The mind in the Tamasic state shows the most negative traits:
• Lethargic
• Depressed
• Hateful
• Possibly murderous
• Possibly suicidal
• Possibly thieving
~ Preparation of Food ~
The preparation of food plays an important part in determining which Guna it promotes. Fresh vegetarian food is usually Sattvic and becomes Rajasic by adding chiles, frying or over-cooking and Tamasic by cooking in advance and keeping it for too long. For instance a potato is a perfectly fine Sattvic food when baked or cooked freshly with relatively low heat (compared to frying). As freshly made French Fries or made as salad with heating spices like chili, pepper and mustard it becomes Rajasic. However frozen French Fries or old potato salad are Tamasic.
In general Ayurveda suggests to feed on mainly Sattvic foods and amend with Rajasic foods if the energy is needed, while Tamasic foods should be reduced.
Western culture relies heavily on mass produced frozen fast foods as a quick fix for our busy lifestyles. Our tastes have adjusted to them and we’re eating very little fresh things to compensate, although common sense is telling us that this can’t be healthy.
Your health is YOUR responsibility. There is no one better than you to take responsibility for your and your family's eating and health!
It's vital that you listen to your body and when it's craving something fresh, rather than going for the next quick fix... Provide for it what your it needs!
